Wind and solar combined share grew to over 14%, by my calculations. (Will have to adjust when NEA releases more info later.)
That's up from around 12% in 2021, so this share is rising around 2 percentage points annually.
Unfortunately, it was the worst hydro year since 1961, so the overall non-fossil share didn't do very well.

Beijing monthly PM2.5 averages don't tell the full story on air quality, though. The maximum hourly levels can vary quite a bit! Look at Dec '22, last month. PM2.5 reached almost 300, the level where I wouldn't even want to go outside. #beijing #airquality #chinaenvironment

Every year I check up on the Beijing air quality based on the U.S. Embassy monitor (which goes back to 2008). Looks like 2022 was another year of improvement, with several monthly avgs hitting new lows. The annual avg has improved by almost half since 2017, the end of the official War on Air Pollution. (Note that the colors do not imply good air quality.)
