Had a near fainting episode while trying to cook dinner. In the middle of making the bechamel sauce for mucked about Mac cheese (tonight’s version: with leftover tinned cherry tomatoes, fresh spinach, garden fresh basil, and #chokos sliced small through it. Hardly notice the chokos.)

I had to lie on the floor for a little bit, with Wonderdog assisting. (She’s not formally trained, but she is good at helping.) For the first time ever, the bechamel didn’t thicken! Was yum, tho.

Partner reported seeing #chokos for sale at the supermarket yesterday for $7.50 kg. We're sitting on a gold mine, a gold mine, I tells ya! LOL. Chokos for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Even Wonderdog eats chokos. #chayote #merlitons

Cleaned out the vegetable hospice this arvo, too.

Just as well we like #chokos. There are a lot of those about, not many other veges until we shop again. #Merlitons for dinner again!

Evening, Toots! I had a huge sleep in this morning after my adventures getting home last night. Lots of laundry and tidying today. Didn’t make it out for a walk, maybe tomorrow. Dinner, naturally, involved chokos. There are so many #chokos. Good thing we like chokos! #chayote #merliton

Accidentally used Wonderdog’s choko in our dinner. Not like we’re short of #chokos, though!

Yes, even the dog is eating choko. She has one steamed and mixed in her food. Vet likes her having extra veges.

Quick dinner tonight: partner steamed some #chokos, and we fried up some #tofu with a quick dusting of cornflour, gave it a splash of soy, threw in the chokos, and topped it with some (Angry Aunty) Hot Chilli oil.

Afternoon, Toots! A fairly warm day here. Our #choko vine is flourishing, and we have picked the first choko of many! (I’m sure I won’t be as excited by the hundredth choko.) Mum and Dad remember eating these boiled and served in white sauce. They were a big Depression era and 1950s food. In New Orleans, these are called #merlitons, served stuffed with seafood. In Mexico, #chayote. In China, two heart melon, stir fried.
