Watched this documentary on #BBCiPlayer.

The first surprise is that #Chorley is a centre of Mormonism in Europe. But the church gives the #BBC an amazing level of access, with some interesting insights especially talking to the missionaries families.

What was most funny was that the missionaries target performances of #TheBookOfMormon as they find people coming out of the show are more receptive to their message.

Butter Pie, apparently also known as Catholic pie or Friday pie, is an age-old dish, from around the #Chorley and #Preston area of #Lancashire in the UK or, for the non-Lancastrians, a potato pie.

Its filling is mostly sliced potatoes, onions and some butter, salt and white pepper and has a shortcrust lidded case.

They can be vegetarian if lard is not used in the pastry.

They are mentioned in the Paul McCartney song "Uncle Albert"

Butter pies were served on match days at Deepdale, the stadium of Preston North End F.C. until 2007 when the providers, Ashworth Foods Ltd ceased trading.

Some people have the lids of their pies lifted and the pie stuffed with grated cheese packed. Others (me) favour the 'Butter Pie Barm'

A garage destroyed by a fierce blaze. The twisted wreckages and orange oxidised metal has a certain Mad Max feeling to it. The place looks like it would fit right into a desert wasteland dystopia.

I visited in 2020, apparently just in time. A few months later the location was cleared/demolished.
