That answers the question of whether the amendments to the undemocratic Bill C-18 motion were good enough. Canadian Chamber of Commerce says no.

Now updated, following an amended motion passed by #CHPC. @CdnChamberofCom says: "From what we’ve seen out of today’s committee meeting, our original concerns remain unchanged.”

That Google #CHPC hearing was more heat than light. MPs took turns showing how angry they are with Google. Actual news: test ends March 16th, affected users randomized, Google concerns focus on payment for links in Bill C-18 and expansive list of eligible news businesses.

This is definitely among the most aggressive committee meetings I've ever seen, in terms of how universally mad MPs from all different parties (including the chair!) are at Google. #CHPC
Now Liberals move to put Google under oath. Google has tried to avoid some answering some questions, but haven’t seen anything to suggest untruthful answers. #CHPC

I have one of these answers! Google has confirmed the tests will end next week. #CHPC https://twitter.com/mgeist/status/1634263697034977282
Full round of questions of Google at #CHPC and most MP questions about who isn’t there or doc demands, rather than on the test and its impact. There are real questions but so far no one asking: how many affected? why not disclose in advance? what has it learned? how much longer?
Google says runs over 11,500 tests each year. Says it doesn’t know if it can continue to link given Bill C-18, so testing different outcomes if remove links to news. #CHPC
Canadian Heritage committee meeting with Google underway. Google says its links to news publishers has $250M in value + 150 deals in place. Says transparently concerned with Bill C-18, notably payments for links. Uncapped liability simply for providing links. #CHPC

The #CHPC Laith Marouf funding testimony from @HonAhmedHussen and @pablorodriguez was simply not credible. From demonstrably false assertions of immediate action to implausible claims of ignorance, it’s apologies without accountability or consequences.

My emotions have been simmering since Monday's #CHPC meeting with @CdnHeritage officials reviewing their inaction on the #LaithMarouf affair
Here are some thoughts
Let's start with the opening remarks and yet another apology without accountability:

My takeaways from the #CHPC Marouf hearing: (1) Good questions from MPs from all parties today. The incompetence at Canadian Heritage with vetting, legal contracting, and communications are all stunning. No real mention of consequences other than promises to do better.

When will the Heritage Committee take a comprehensive look at the failures that led to a serial purveyor of hate being engaged under the guise of of an anti-racism program?

Will try to keep up with #TRCM clause by clause on C-11 but have little faith is more than duct tape being put on a pig because discussions only covered a couple of shiny objects and not the core.
Curious to see if they will actually read the amendments or act like #CHPC and just mention amendment numbers.
