It feels odd - I'm a completist in lots of things - I wouldn't dream of skipping the new #Springsteen album, even though it feels like posh karaoke - but the thought of a new novel by #IanRankin or #Brookmyre doesn't excite me.
Partly the cliches of the #crimenovel format have worn me out - how many more times can the venerable time worn detective 1/2

I thought I'd do a few posts about #christmasreading over the next couple of days - they're working days for me but such is the state of the TV I suspect my evenings will be spent in books...
I did a run to various bookshops before Christmas and one of the unusual choices (for me) was Alan Moore's #VForVendetta - 2022 is the year I got into graphic novels, and this one seemed like a landmark work - but like #1984 it hasn't aged well and shows its age and context - but still worth reading...

Beautifully written, poetic and insightful and gives a multifaceted and Multiform take on what it means to be brown in Singapore. Even more important to remind ourselves when reading this that Chineseness and Brownness are necessarily intertwined and that we are all complicit in perpetuating social injustice. #christmasreading

After 2 days mostly spent running around & seeing family, today I will do my best to get some #ChristmasReading done. Starting with Stuart Turton's The Devil and the Dark Water - mystery/horror/crime set in the early modern period sounds like exactly my thing!
