Felon Paul Manafort Indicted and arrested in October 2017 for charges of conspiracy against the United States, making false statements, money laundering, and failing to register as foreign agents for Ukraine. Gates entered a plea bargain in February 2018

Manafirt committed tax evasion and embezzlement crimes. Manafort was found guilty on eight counts (covering filing false tax returns, bank fraud, and failing to disclose a foreign bank account), but a mistrial was declared on the remaining ten counts due to a single juror harboring reasonable doubts.

Weeks later, before a second trial on seven separate criminal counts could begin, Manafort reached a plea bargain on two of those counts (conspiracy to defraud the United States and witness tampering). As part of the agreement, he also admitted guilt to an additional seven counts left unresolved from the earlier mistrial (bank fraud and bank fraud conspiracy).

IMO a judge who accepts a case that they have not only formed a view as to the merits but also started to work on the order, is required to recuse and failing that is violating 28 USC 455(a) and should be subject to criminal prosecution for a fraud on the US.

This is Christo, our local resident male red-tailed hawk. I have a special affinity for him, having first observed him in the neighborhood in November 2013. Since then, he has nested every spring and has produced 23 offspring, as well as fostering a young red-tail who fell out of its nest. He's an amazing creature and I love him so much. 🥰

Spring is in the air, as celebrated by our local resident red-tailed hawk pair, who decided to "bond" atop one of their favorite church crosses. Lovebirds, Christo and Amelia, have been working on their nest for the last month and are now preparing for egg time in a couple of weeks. If all goes well, I'll be sharing chick pics later in the season.

I took this photo earlier today of our local resident male red-tailed hawk, Christo, as he perched on top of a building with the moon rising behind him.

This was shot at 1365mm with a Canon SX70 bridge camera. The quality isn't as good as my usual DSLR, but I think it produces a pretty good image considering the distance - the building is 16 stories high, plus a peaked roof.
