On February 10, 2023, lightning struck Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro.
The statue receives 5-6 lightning strikes per year due to its location at the highest point in the neighbourhood, and it's metallic structure serves as a lightning rod. #ChristtheRedeemer
