Amongst many things that #musk broke because he wants more #money is #RSCPoster competition that is held on Twitter each year. The idea is simple, make a poster, add some #hashtags and show off your science!

There is no #chronological order to #events. Finding who tweeted new #science this year is impossible and #popular or forced tweets have flooded my #timeline with mainly tweets from #2020 #2021.

I sincerely hope #RSC makes its way to #mastodon soon.

The Dawn of the Jedi comics were fun. Too many characters. I was starting to get invested and then they flashed forward a year right into a war. Skipped a lot of development for the sake of action. I liked a lot of it though. Xesh was a cool character. I wish they made more before #Disney made it # legends and stopped it. I hope they make this era #canon. I miss reading books though so, back to the novels. Next is "Lost tribe of the Sith."

In case you missed it: besides cutting #API access to third-party clients like #tweetbot by @paul, #Twitter is also currently in the process of removing the #chronological #timeline feature. Yes, the one Musk recently praised as so important and which he said won’t be removed. Currently rolling-out. #algorithm

I've just paid #Twitter a very brief visit, and I see that Latest Tweets, which has been the fairly well-hidden #chronological feed, is now called Following.

Is this so they can start messing around with it and make it as unusable as Home (the Twitter-knows-best algorithm feed)?

Still having to use the #birdsite professionally, but #Twitter is becoming increasingly unusable now it suddenly appears to have eliminated display of tweets in #chronological order. Singularly unhelpful if you only want latest news!

Moreover, you now automatically get a bunch of random tweets shoved in your face ‘for you’ from accounts you don’t even follow.

Bizarre how a company seems intent on committing #harakiri by alienating its customers & driving them elsewhere…

Why I like #algorithms : I don't like the fomo of chronological. The "you need to be here & paying attention to see the most important stuff." The firehose is time consuming. & if I post at 4am EST few see it w/out algorithms.

Why I like #chronological : I don't like a computer choosing what's important all the time. Sometimes I want to see what's most recent without a filter. To have a conversation.

It's similar to having a time & a place for both asynchronous vs synchronous communication.

@Chanders Good point. Chronological seems good here but in my view needs more features to be practical in daily life when there's no time to browse through all what's happened.

For example to jump to a specific input time in the feed or mark scrollbar points (automatically?) to come back to. Maybe some Mastodon client already does these?

I notice I often swipe through posts here that I have already seen just to get to older ones that I haven't.
