Artist of the week: Chuck Mangione. Don't get hung up on his "smooth jazz" (although you shouldn't blame the father for the sins of the children). He started out with Art Blakey, so you know he has real trumpet chops. His double LP "Children of Sanchez" is a masterpiece of developing diverse textures, moods, grooves, and structures out of just a handful of melodic and rhythmic motifs.

Going through some accumulated CD-and-tape junk (a fraction of my overall CD-and-tape junk, mind you) and throwing out many 18-20 year old audio CDs burned from dodgy napster MP3s.

My instinct was to throw away this cassette, dubbed from a roommate's own cassette about 28 years ago, but the thing with old cassettes is that you can never really be *sure* that what's on the label is what's on the cassette, can you? This could be a lost band practice or who knows what, so this stays for now. (I really need to get a stereo rack that can accommodate my cassette deck, assuming the deck still works after being subjected to time in an attic 😬)
