12th century stained glass still in the window they were fitted in originally, but reset in the 19th century. The earth coloured glass is typical of the period.

St Mary the Virgin, Brabourne, Kent.

Julius Caesar died in 1636 and asked to be buried in St Helen's, Bishopsgate, London. The top of his monument featues a carved marble replica of a deed poll, complete with folds in the parchment and a seal attached, "couched in proper legal terms, signifying that he willingly paid the debt of nature."

A blowy and autumnal visit to Dunterton Church just over the border in Devon.

It might seem odd to see it all by itself in a field, but there was once a village to its east.

Churchcrawling: I'm still missing Rome :( Not least the beautiful light in the Jesu, the HQ of the Society of Jesus - a.k.a. the Jesuits.

Last in this series from the pulpit at St Peter's, Worfield, : a carving featuring a hammer, tongs and iron nails. Perhaps these were sponsored by the local smithy? Maybe there's behind it? Perhaps this is a smithy's alpha, omega and holy spirit?

A similarly interesting wooden carved panel image from the pulpit at St Peter's, Worfield, featuring a ladder with a wreath hanging from the top and possibly a lily or daffodil and a tulip.
