Winebox bass guitar v2.0.
some time ago I blew up the amp on my Leaf-audio Soundbox and got a new one. So I used the salvaged parts on this thing.
It's a lot of fun to play actually. I am surprised.

The glue I used was pritt stick 😱🤨 as I do my rubbish guitar DIY on the kitchen table & have no wish to get caught up in cleaning up squeeze out or, for that matter, trying to get woodworking clamps in there ... the screws down from the new bridge do all of that in the simplest way possible.

Bit more cleaning/polishing needed to remove pen marks.

For the sake of a few £££ on a replacement bridge I can put metal strings on without worry and drop the action quite a lot 😊

The bridge fixing screws go down into a 3/4" pine block of wood I glued underneath adjacent to one of the ladder braces so it's much better supported/affixed than the old bridge and saddle.

#CigarBoxGuitar style bridge installed on a very budget charity shop guitar which had an unstable/loose fixed wooden bridge. Fully adjustable. Stainless Steel from Chickenbone John's website ... I'd have bought a 3 string bridge but out of stock.
The action is much lower so much improved. The intonation still isn't perfect but lots better than it was. Currently running a little under a 1/4 semitone sharp at the 12th fret (previously a tone sharp 🤪😱😫).

Chickenbone John on fixed tail bridges for #CigarBoxGuitar

Brilliant!!

The biggest issue was the side dots ... they were about an inch out!

No wonder the previous owner traded it in 🤨

A few minutes spent with the electronic tuner first getting the intonation at the 12th fret right (adjusting the bridge) and then finding the minor 3rd, perfect 4ths and 5ths, and verifying the octave got it sounding 👌

Making #CigarBoxGuitar pays off!!

Small further amendments to the resonator #CigarBoxGuitar ... lifted the tail end of the resonator with a washer and changed/swapped a couple of strings.

Currently tuned CGC. Sounds dreadful but 👍👍😎

Yes. See Alt text for detail. The tin lid contacts the neck but the main box does not. It all rattles beautifully. Sound is raw. Earthy. Esp when amplified. Truly awful sound :))

My first guitar was nice enough. Cheap. Dreadfully high action. Came with book of chords for beginners and a tuner & case.

But the high action did for me ... until I saw a Diddly bow video probably by Shane Speal. Realised I could make one from junk. Played with slide.

Shane Speal says there are no rules with #CigarBoxGuitar and truly there aren't. You want to tune GBF# go ahead!

Have put 3 light strings on for now treating it as a #CigarBoxGuitar tuned EBE.

Popped down to Ross on Wye for lunch. Treated self to a heavy brass guitar slide. Makes for much less effort twanging the heavier strung #CigarBoxGuitar

The weight cuts down the raw rattle as I slap it onto the strings :)

Still lets the 🎸 sound terrible, mind :))
