📃Using everyday items, #CIMeC researcher Javier Albayay helped the Global Consortium
for Chemosensory Research test 11,000 people for smell and taste loss during the COVID-19 pandemic, reporting in journal Chemical Senses that the disease also reduces taste, even when not connected to smell doi.org/10.1093/chemse/bjad020
📢 Thrilled to announce that I'll be joining #CIMeC (https://www.cimec.unitn.it/) at the University of Trento this September! 🥳 I'm proud to be part of such esteemed faculty and #neuroscience community! 😎 Thanks to colleagues/friends from @unigenews, without whose support this would not have never been possible.
Interested in the CIMeC Master’s program? Learn what our program can do for you during UniTrento Open Days at 2 p.m. on May 9 – in person or by remote. Schedule and registration at event.unitn.it/opendays-lm/en/

📃The tip of the nose reliably changes temperature according to the level of #socialanxiety, while other parts of the face do not, report #CIMeC 's Javier Albayay and colleagues in Anxiety, Stress, & Coping. The team trained a thermal camera on subjects engaged in five #socialinteraction tasks. The task involving interactions with strangers was the most effective, even more so than public speaking, embarrassment or interaction with the opposite sex.

📃A team at #CIMeC and two American universities has adapted the SATURN test of #neurodegeneration for self-administration via the web. Chiara Tagliabue of Prof. Veronica Mazza’s Attention, Perception & Aging group published the report in the Journal of Applied Gerontology @sgsmgr along with @sassecon @JeffreyKaye5 and David Bissig.

📃Low levels of the soil odor geosmin suppress the #honeybee stinging response while higher levels do not, and a further investigation of olfactory receptor neurons offers possible explanations of that variability, reports Florencia Scarano of #CIMeC @neurophysics with Mukilan Deivarajan Suresh, Ettore Tiraboschi, Amélie Cabirol, Morgane Nouvian & @drtnowotny in a study in @SciReports.
