Let's assume for the sake of argument that all people besides the most crazed fossil fuel lobbyist or those that have been encaptured within the political rhetoric about climate change, are in agreement with what has to happen to mitigate climate change.

From the origin of the problem:

Reduce the extraction of raw materials such as fossil fuels & metals. That will reduce the amount of fossil fuels in the "system".

And promote a #CircularEconomy

Without a planned reduction in extracting resources, the extraction industries (e.g., mining, etc.) "green" transition is merely greenwash.

I mean, OK, we get it, they're simply industries that would reduce in scale if they stopped exploiting the planet's resources.

They're so used to the business-as-usual bollocks they've probably forgotten how to be honest about their true agendas.
