We premiered a new work at Ars Electronica this weekend. Here’s Ouroboros - the chaos that encircles a world of human-imposed order. The artwork contextualises new bioplastic materials in a post-extractive aesthetic juxtaposed with #fossilfuel extraction. Next month will be the premiere of Ouroboros installation at Ars Electronica, an outcome of STARTS #RepairingThePresent residency #CircularRecords with Fara Peluso
Ouroboros speaks to the cyclical nature of material and of human relationships with the environment. The ouroboros is a symbol of renewal and rebirth, the emblem of chaos around a world of imposed order.
As industrialized activity exerts order on the planet, the impulse of the changing climate will impose a global supra-human chaos on human existence. A multi-media installation combining sculpture, sound and video, Ouroborous juxtaposes new material with bodies of human and algae, framed in a landscape transitioning from extraction.
Shown here, a video still from the forthcoming installation, filmed in #Lusatia #Lausitz by Falko Siedel @openframe_s
