It specifically deals with the conditions required for life as we know it to emerge, and for said life to develop a civilization that lasts long enough for us to engage in communication with. Given how big the #universe is, and the finite speed light travels at, we're probably going to be waiting on an answer for quite a while.

In the past, #civilizations collapsed if they had to face not only one but several major issues at once (often interconnected though), such as an #epidemic, #crop failure, the collapse of infrastructure (earthquake, flood, fire), war, or the breakup of trade routes.
Today, we have many trade routes and better and more resilient #infrastructure but we are far from being safe, because there are many people incapable of handling higher energy or food prices.
