Finally managed another #Clarkesworld story. “The privilege of the happy ending” by Kij Johnson. Superficially it's a fantasy story in a monster-infested version of mediaeval England, but the important thing about it is when the narrator tells us about endings. Characters leaving the story and what fate they meet, sometimes straight, sometimes heavily commenting on the craft of storytelling.

Interesting update on how #Clarkesworld is dealing with the flood of AI-generated submissions clogging their pipes. The sad part is you just know many other publications are not being similarly diligent; or worse, they're actively encouraging or even "creating" these "submissions" themselves.

The future sucks! 😒

I haven't read a magazine devoted to Science fiction and fantasy in a very long time, and don't really know what's out there these days. I do know about #LocusMagazine and #ClarkesWorld (which I'm reading now) but what else is out there? English and the Scandinavian languages are all I can manage, and downloadable digital issues are a requirement.

Amazon notified subscribers that it's ending all print AND digital magazine subscriptions in September.

This is going to kill more than one small magazine where amazon was their main retailer.

Shame it took something like this happening for me to support #SFF authors more, but I’m psyched for when the magazine ships 😄
