Going through old photos to learn how to best use #DarkTable. This is from last spring at the #Tallgrass Prairie Preserve in #OsageCounty #Oklahoma. The #Preserve has 39,650 #Acres (~ 16,045.8 hectares) of preserved tall grass - the largest area of preserved tallgrass prairie in the world. It is also home to roughly 2,700 free range #Bison. #CalvingSeason will start this spring and peak in #May. The preserve is owned and operated by the #NatureConservancy, but is open for access along public gravel roads. It is also open for research, and was one of my research areas in #Environmental #Restoration. The Bison occasionally made field work very interesting. With #Class2 #DarkSkies it is the perfect place to catch the #MilkyWay, then hang around for #Sunrise and then search for Bison. Time to start prepping the subie for a road trip.

A little pre-sunrise color to start the week, from the #TallgrassPrairiePreserve. The #TGPP is one of the larger remnants of undisturbed Tallgrass prairie. It is home to roughly 3,000 #Bison that roam freely, sometimes making field work interesting. It is also the closest #DarkSky to my area. With #Class2 skies, the #MilkyWay and #DeepSky objects are visible. A 1 hour 30 minute drive in the dark is well worth the effort as the Milky Way Becomes visible again later in the month.
