The rear elevation of Saint Andrew's Parish Church in Saint Andrew's Square in Glasgow. Built in the mid-1700s, this church is usually photographed from the front, but the simple symmetry of the rear of the building has an air of classical beauty to it as well.

Built in the mid-1700s, this impressive church was designed by Alan Dreghorn. It was based on James Gibb's 1722 Saint Martin-in-the-Fields in London.

Garrioch Publc School, Maryhill, Glasgow. Built in 1905 by the Maryhill School Board. I love the symmetry of this imposing building, with its strong classical influences even at a time when Art Nouveau was probably more fashinable in Glasgow.

Langside Hill Church on Glasgow's Southside. Design by Alexanser Skirving in 1894 in a style heavily influenced by the great Alexander 'Greek' Thomson, this was apparently the last grand classical church to be built in the city.
