Like...just read this beautiful sentence!

"But dreams come through stone walls, light up dark rooms, or darken light ones, and their persons make their exits and their entrances as they please, and laugh at locksmiths." - Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu.

Years ago, @JFries47 recommended I read the original story, . I finally got around to it and it is such a delight. And unexpected lesbian vampire romp that predates by 25 years. Looks like I finally started reading again.

I've been slowly working my way through my pile of shame books for 10 years.

I've found an app, called Serial Reader, that gives me a 20 min chunk of a classic novel every day.

I finished The Mark of Zorro that way, and now I'm 15% in to my first ever Dickens - David Copperfield.

The app and books are free with no ads. I just paid the $4 to upgrade though, because you get a few useful features - like a Read Later queue.

Well worth a try, I read my daily bit over breakfast or lunch.

Life Lesson: I started reading "Star Soldiers" by Andre Norton. Not only do I find Norton is a woman whom I'd never heard of, but she was a true pioneer for women authors in Sci-Fi. I'm only 70 pages in, but Warhammer40K could take some notes. Norton is a new favourite author!

One of life's biggest disappointments is that I've never seen a steam shovel digging out a foundation. Or operating as a building's heating plant.

Finished making a science fiction book cover. In a painted style, inspired by 60s SF anthology novels.

I only have read two of these. I guess I have some more reading to do.

⁦From to , contains some fantastic, ambitious works of genre fiction. But a lot of us get overwhelmed. And it’s not that hard to fake a first-hand knowledge of these , because they’re everywhere, and we’ve heard people talk about them so many times.

⁩ asked some of their favorite what are the 10 that everyone pretends to have , and why you should actually read them.
