Anyone else had the pleasure of hearing "Anchors aweigh" on a IBM chain printer? I have.

This building in google maps was the home to Dynalogic, who then became Bytec-Dynalogic then finally Comterm something like that. Home of the first IBM PC work alike luggable, the Hyperion. It failed miserably due to bad floppy diskdrives plus a not so compatible design. Michael Copeland was an investor and also had a share in a helicotper company. He occasionally flew into the (then vacant) back lot to visit. :-( I was one of the employees. ;)
It's now a church.

I stumbled across a cool site today where you can really get your geek on. It’s the CPU Shack Museum.
I explored things that I’d forgotten about decades ago. There’s a mountain of information on this trip down memory lane.

@jameswoodcock It’s awesome that you still have it and that you’ve found a way to keep it going.
I have sold, given away, and recycled alot of machines over the years and would give anything to have a select few of them back right now.
If that’s your very first computer, hang on to it; don’t let it go. Someday you’ll be glad you did.

I wonder how fast a 6502 modernised to have 32 bit registers would be. Honestly it was very RISC in its time. Random Logic 1 instruction per cycle.

@DiamondHeighter I had a couple of those, too. My very first computer was a TRS-80 Color. I think Radio Shack may have sold about 50 of them in total. 🤣
I later owned a TRS-80 Model 3 with dual drives that I acquired in a business auction. It was already a relic when I got it, but it still worked and came with a box of floppies.
I remember longing for that machine so bad when I was a kid so it was a real treat to get one as an adult. I later sold it. Regrets.
Did anyone else have a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A? I think the best part of that machine was the addressable audio oscillator.

@wohali #ComputerHistory #ClassicComputers I was given this bag when I worked at Dynalogic ;) and here's my copy of a PCDOS

@w84death I also have some 8" soft sectored ones on a shelf downstairs. I wrote my own DOS for a 6502 with a wirewrapped 8" floppy disk controller. #ClassicComputers #ClassicComputing

@april Surely someone who is a Historian does this sort of thing? I have donated material I had to museums. One collection at yorku.ca #History #Historodons so I Furiously agree. #Classiccomputers

#ClassicComputers You could IPL? Why in my day we had to wire up plug boards on our Yorkshire farms!

@wohali Thought this would interest you in particular.
Stuff I had from working on the Dynalogic Hyperion.

#classiccomputers like #classiccars seems more accurate though.
so much retro-style stuff these days, often meaning emulation, or knock-off stuff with a RaspberryPI inside running the show...I prefer real gear, unless enjoying a classic arcade game ROM in MAME that I can get nowhere else.
