Blizzard has released data about the first hours of Classic Hardcore. In a little over 24 hours since launch, 90,000 characters have perished. The highest-level player after one day reached level 33!

@raginfrijoles Sadly, I've found the situation in #classicwow as described in the video.
Not the nostalgic experience everybody's longing for, but many elitists clumping on a few alive servers and looking down on everybody with a standard mount and no titles.

Every #wow player should watch this. But it is also interessting for everybody interessted in virtual and social environments. Many things discussed are also things that make me want to (not) play the game. Fascinating and insightful (but quite long) video from Folding Ideas.

For anyone wondering how to run WoW 1.12.1 on macOS Big Sur: Get the game, and download PlayOnMac. PlayOnMac allows you to run Windows-based apps and games on mac (both 32 and 64 bit).
