Scientists from the Mendel University in Brno want to use cyanobacteria to clean the oceans of plastic. Bacteria is able to decompose microparticles of plastic waste in water after special treatment. Thanks to this, so-called garbage patches, which form an area in the oceans roughly the size of Australia, would shrink.
