I have a parishioner who’s going on hospice today. A friend of theirs was in church. When I mentioned it, they replied, “We’re praying for a miracle that he pulls out of it.”
What is it about us that we don’t accept death? Who do we want served when we pray for those types of miracles?

At clergy conference, I heard a colleague—another parish priest—describe herself as a theologian. It was the first descriptor she used, and it gave me great joy.
