@larryneufeld The marvelous technique of lying with the truth, the part truth and nothing like the whole truth.

2 things strike me as abundantly clear:
1) We must convert to with as soon as humanly possible (and WW 2 manufacturing ramp and repurposing in the US shows what can and must be done)
2) We will need fuels ONLY until alternative renewable energy is deployed

And so we need a strategy that defines how we will manage that transition, and how we will respond to unexpected setbacks, AND unexpected successes

Saying we will need fossil fuels, without linking to an explicit strategy and timeline (subject to acceleration) , is merely a shill for the status quo that will cause death, displacement and despair unlike anything known in recent times.

Soon the idea that somehow "developed" countries such as , and will not be hit as hard by the will be seen to be the folly it is.

Perhaps the lack of action is not only due to the malignant influence of lobbyists and politicians - but the false assumption we will do better in a warming world.

Earth systems care not for borders.

I fear - actually anticipate - those wealthier regions will suffer consequences just as dire and profound as anywhere else in the world.

The impacts may not be as direct or dramatic as flooding, fires and drought.

Instead expect food shortages, supply chain disruption, contested borders and societal retreat form the sea and the interiors of land masses as sea levels and temps rise.

Don't think "we" are safe for a moment.

We won't be able to hide behind seawalls and guard towers.

The is coming for us all.

"For nearly three decades, the countries most vulnerable to climate disasters have asked wealthy countries to help them pay for the damage, only to be stonewalled..."

Sorry, paywalled: nytimes.com/2022/11/11/opinion
