A quite difficult puzzle (for my French students anyway, I think):

“I have twice the age you had when I had the age you have. When you‘ll have the age I have, together
we will have 63 years. How old are we (individually)?”

Can you solve it?

As part of my Content and language integrated learning (CLIL) class in mathematics - English, I will ask students to pick a riddle/puzzle in a list and explain the solution they obtained to the class.

The puzzles are reasonably easy, and I don't really care about the answer, the real goal is to practice talking about maths in English.

Next year I am going to teach maths in English at a French high school. It is an optional course some students choose to follow, part of the "European classes".

It's called «DNL» in French (Discipline Non Linguistique) and CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) in English.

The real goal is *not* to translate French courses in English, but rather to learn both mathematics and English.

I will probably toot a bit about that in the future, and I would be very pleased to discuss that with anyone doing the same kind of things (or someone just curious).

I just moved to this server, and I realized I need a new #introduction post. So here we are.

I'm an Aussie expat (originally from the #SunshineCoast in QLD) and I've lived in Osaka for 17 years. I was a primary school teacher for about 10 years, and now I teach at a girls’ #highschool in #Kyoto. I have 3 kids so I constantly have no time or money.
