@rwxrwxrwx Normally I would use fftw directly, but I'm finally coming round to consider C's memory psychopathy harmful. So I would like to use native common lisp, which I think bordeaux-fft is, but... It's not the fancy decades of work of fftw.

I'm thinking of something like hand-specified notes in... some interface. The weekend is yet young! My 100daystooffload will be an idea sketch. I do want to use something symbolic as well though. Some polynomial identity I can use.

definitely sdf commode chat but I will also have ~chat irc open. I should probably be in # on liberachat, but it's hard for me to be in three places at once and I seem to often lose my connection to liberachat. If *you* are there you are welcome to remind them the lispy gopher show is happening ( is a great fountain of technical advice and commentary ). I think @rwxrwxrwx and @jackdaniel are usually over there.

Something I was thinking about here is that in CommonLisp 's ; There's , there's backends, there's drei (~ already made emacs like infrastructure included), there's various notions of events and loops.

I think it would be so demanding to try and put that together in scheme, though I acknowledge that schemers seem to produce something from nothing, or very little. It's hard to imagine rnrs doing this either.

@rml the topic really on my mind at the moment is introducing more into my daily lisp usage. Do you use a lot of graphics and graphics concepts while lisping (and have some writing I can also quickly read thence) ?

I'm very interested in an SDL* backend option. It's possible I could help a little.
Was there a discussion of targeting SDL vs SDL2 vs SDL3 ?
SDL is unaccelerated and can run without X. On the other hand, it's defunct and just dragged along by projects that want to run without Xorg (iirc, mpv?). SDL3 was announced a while ago, but SDL2 is still current.

Out of curosity, does anybody know if the source code for Grasper-CL, a graph management system written for CLIM, is available anywhere?

@lethalbit Yeah. The situation sucks.

The heavy behemoths like / are heavy and cumbersome to use from most languages other than their implementation one & their constant changing means developing proper support in other languages is a pain.

is mostly stable but lol (okay it has some tacked on integrations) & , what's that? Sadly the same also goes for .

@wolf480pl @nytpu Perhaps.

On that note, I'm annoyed by how customization in programs is so rare.

It isn't that hard in either or (cliki.net/clim) to make the interface entirely customizable by users, including moving, removing or adding widgets dynamically. Why did doing that die out?

Personally I just tend to keep a server/client approach for that too. Don't like the client? The backend is entirely agnostic to it.

@nil You mentioned and in the same toot. I kept thinking what is common between those. Then I realized its not "What", its "Who". Henry Lieberman ( web.media.mit.edu/~lieber/ ), one of those MIT AI Lab hackers.

His paper "There's More to Menu Systems Than Meets the Screen, Henry Lieberman, ACM SigGraph '85" describes his EZWin system, which heavily inspired Dynamic Windows on , and later .

His paper "Using Prototypical Objects to Implement Shared Behavior in Object-Oriented Systems, first OOPSLA 86" describes a prototype based OO system in Lisp, which the Self author cite in their original Self paper.
