"March of 2023 was jointly the second warmest March globally" says EU's Copernicus Programme, based on measurements starting in 1979,
going on to state that "Many new records for high temperature were set for the month of March, from Morocco to China and Japan" and that "On the US West Coast, San Francisco had daily maximum temperatures in late March as low as any in records dating back to 1872".

Also, "Antarctic sea ice extent was the second lowest for March in the satellite data record, at 28% below average, following a record low extent in February" and "monthly average Arctic sea ice extent in March 2023 [...] ranks 4th lowest for March in the satellite record, which starts in 1979".

@morpheo To imagine it was just like 2 or 3 years ago, I felt like "damn, this may be going too far", when I changed from to .
That summer with the record ever wildfires in Sweden? So close to me that I could feel the smoke... but then again, satellite photos showed that smoke clearly opaque all the way across Norway and double that over the Atlantic.
We done messed up.

Oh yeah, these are the same rural regions flooding now as were in worldwide news for huuuge wildfires a couple of years ago, with so much smoke that it could be seen from space blown about 1000km away NNW over the Atlantic, the largest wildfires in known history for the country. People could smell those fires hundreds of kilometers away.

Scientists told us for at least half a century that climate change would manifest locally as more extreme weathers. This is it. Breaking record after record, in all climate directions, more and more frequently, none of them good.

Flooding continues in N Sweden, with record breaking 105.6mm rain in just 24 hours for Stora Skedvi, Dalarna, while in the regional capital Falun there fell 79.5mm which has only been surpassed once in recorded history, with 82.4mm in 1872.
Normal amount of rain there for the entire month of August is about 80mm, which these locations got or surpassed in 1 day instead of 31 days.

Wellp, could've been worse.

Some areas of the several regions wide intense rain during the night in Sweden ended up being declared "disaster zones", with several road collapses, housing undermined, evacuations, etc.

One city measured a record breaking 161mm rain in about 2 hours, which can be compared to a "normal August" for the location expected to have 80mm rainfall for the entire month.

Seventeen people have now been confirmed killed in the current floodings of northern Turkey, reports AP, the second major climate disaster as devastating wildfires still rage in mainly southern Turkey and are being maintained by the military in eastern Turkey,
which the dictator Erdoğan infamously responded to by going on a tour of the disaster area just throwing tea at people whose entire lives just had burned up... tea manufactured by a company affiliated with the ruling party.

Bizerte and Beja also endured their highest recorded temperatures.

A U.N. climate panel warned on Monday that climate change was close to spiralling out of control and that the world was already certain to face further climate disruptions for decades, if not centuries, to come.
