We can also make it clear to the directors and major shareholders of fossil fuel companies that they CAN pump that oil – of course they can, our government has given them a licence to do so – but if they do, they WILL be prosecuted for #ClimateGenocide.

The advantadge of using the #Genocide convention is that it can be prosecuted in any jurisdiction in which the crime has been perpetrated, which for #ClimateGenocide, is everywhere.

I don't want anyone to die. I don't even want anyone to be punished. But I do, very much, want those who are actively destroying the planet to be deterred.

@Ecosaurian @yogthos @pvonhellermannn the point about #genocide is it's an international crime. Authorities in any jurisdiction can arrest, and can prosecute. Yes, it's impossible to imagine prosecution in one of the deeply corrupt countries of the world – the US, the UK, the Russian Federation... – but we don't need to. Any country with the courage can do it.

The slope is unstable, the anger is rising: once the first stone drops, the avalanche will follow.

@yogthos @pvonhellermannn @adiz I really believe that a #Nuremberg process for #ClimateGenocide could turn things round very rapidly. As soon as fossil fuel and airline executives understand they're facing a potential death penalty, the planes will stop flying and the oil will stop pumping.

@adiz @yogthos Aye, that's the problem. (Some of) our politicians say a lot of the right things, but then it comes to action there's nothing happening.

We need to put pressure on them. We need more demonstrations, more civil dispbedience, more direct action. We all need to stop burning fossil carbon for personal transport.

And we need a new #Nuremberg process to punish those responsible for #ClimateGenocide.
