@peterdutoit i think what should do now is a . Stop communicating completely, some may (and have already) consider a career change. As we all know, it’s for them and there’s nothing left to say. In fact keeping on talking is detrimental to , as it is used by lobbies to keep on talking and do nothing. I think urgent action is now in , -led lofi solutions.

seem to really like using ACC to abbreviate different things: Antarctic Circumpolar Current, Anomaly Correlation Coefficient, Anthropogenic Climate Change, Abrupt Climate Change.

It’s not unlikely to want to use all these ACCs in the same paper … and compete for the most confusing title 🤔

@PythonLinks Setting aside James Cameron, who built his own planet years ago, I feel like our individual strengths can only go so far.

There are quite a number of us who have experience organizing within our communities and beyond. That part (as communities) we know how to do. We don't always get it right, but we have the know-how, and the best organizing often emerges as a crisis bears down.

What we are missing is more like a shared (and trusted) set of clear and achievable priorities: what are the highest-value goals we (in our particular community) might organize toward?

That's where we need something I have not seen - a simple set of priorities scored by , with approximate costs provided by (and whoever else is needed) and overall "value" to the climate fight scored by and potentially political economists.

That sort of tool will have issues (e.g., how do you weigh the climate impact vs community impact due to poisoning of a leaking oil well), but also, if it is well-conceived and well-executed, incredible power to enable a decentralized movement to maximize our collective impact - through independent, creative, decentralized organizing.

A lot of I know either sympathize with peaceful disruptive
or take direct action themselves for good reasons:
- Climate activists hear the science.
- Their peaceful protests appeal to the democratic structures of power in our society.
- They essentially call for very concrete actions that are achievable now.

One should actually see an opportunity for a change in these protests instead of repressing them.

@Hey_Beth “many Twitter users” - brilliant shorthand i’ve been needing!

I am curious to see what all the climate activist bigwigs will do - some set up briefly here but almost instantly returned, others just stayed on Twitter. It’s been a particularly disappointing dimension of this saga - more than activists came here. Will they now go to or stay on , forever battling there?

Where is it possible to find climate scientists gathered on social media? Is there any one platform where, say, scientists contributing to IPCC report talk to each other? I want to know I’m where they are. (Or you are).

Welcome :-) sucks. Lots of here so you'll definitely find your people!

Also, if you add Alt Text to your images more people will share your post. It can be as descriptive as you want, but a simple text OCR would be enough!

@ZLabe it's the fault always.

People need to stop blaming everything and everyone else.

Simply lay the blame where it belongs. Look to the climate scientists and blame them.

After all they never warned anyone in the industrial age that the world would become destroyed with climate change while we use all fossil fuels and crap to have the short term gain!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

@Incognitim
Thank you ☺️ are people who studied something like physics or meteorology, i.e. without professional media training. It is often a dilemma between wanting to explain, hoping to educate and suspecting that you are waisting your time on professional anti-science campaigners.
But I agree, in my experience, fediverse has been very hospitable so far.
