We have found the GNOME interface kludge and confused in the past. Having said that, what bothers us more is how #GNOME and KDE interface with the community.

GNOME forces #Google to #collaborate / contact, and #KDE forces CloudFlare. Its so very repellent. Not to sound conspiratorial but sometimes we wonder if that is the point. Repel those who really do want FOSS to outperform and thrive. Universities with ties to bad "financiers", etc.

Yesterday, a #socialMedia and political #commentor appeared on #RT's #BoomBust program, and namedropped #Gab as "entirely independent run, including their payment processors".

But its untrue. Gab is #Cloudflare.

This was framed in relation to #Parler, which they identified as being attacked by #Amazon and #Apple, but Cloudflare is among the most #monopolistic and predatory in tech.

The commentator who made this false claim is #LaurenChen.

We search #hashtags manually. You may find a client-side software that does #hashtag searches for you but its not something we've investigated.

The way #Federation works means that your server might not see toots with hashtags you're looking for, so the different #federated timelines tend to be the focus.

A benefit of this is we're less likely to slip into #closedSilo-thinking, but it depends on federation levels too. Some servers (eg. #gab *cough) cut themselves off!

Last year, before COVID, we made a prediction that particular entities would try to brew a #raciallyMotivated #terrorAttack against #Chinese people.

We identified the resumption of #chanBoards served by #Cloudflare as one possible #closedSilo to brew them, also #Gab, if we isolated them or other closed Cloudflare sites.

It's good that everyone who sees this has remained federated on #Fediverse. We all have different views.
