@dmpop that is an interesting point that does speak to many creative fields - anyone pro #FOSS would point out that we silo ourselves using #ClosedSource apps, but when I comes to workflow and features it is often hard to beat.

But I think there is a way: support projects financially (maybe with the work you achive with closed source projects) and promote it when you use #OpenSoruce apps as much as you can (I try that with video and will do that with web and graphics aswell)

@leiphf I really like Resolve and am actually quite happy with it's features. However, I am on a quest to replace many, if not all, #closedsource apps with #opensource #alternatives. 🙂 In case of Resolve I was originally thinking of Olive.

I started using #Anytype for almost a week now and am very satisfied.

It's a #Notion alternative that lets you self-host your data and is *very* customizable.

It's still in #beta and #closedsource, but they plan to #opensource it soon.

I just thought you should check them out. 😁

I don't think that copyleft actually has any power over proprietary software. I don't see a legal end to users having a choice for proprietary software.

Currently, I see the copyright system as the only necessary legal core of copyleft. I'm open to learning other legal defenses of copyleft that don't depend on copyright at the core.

Is there another way to stop copyleft software from being used to create closed source software?

I imagine legal battles should currently be happening in this space, but I haven't heard of much, which is why I ask.

I think it is all due to the "Stae of #opensource in #3dprinting" by Josef #Prusa that led to this.

We have 3 routes we can take now. #Closedsource #Bambu printers, semi-open #Creality (which is just a copy of everything out their basically), and #Opensource #Voron.

I am disappointed in Creality just becoming copy-cats and also releasing stupid stuff like the Creality #SonicPad and locking it up as much as the #FLSun 400 controller.

But companies like #AnyCubic aren't even trying to copy #Prusa. They are just cntrl+f'ing them by now.

It's a shame that this Google AIY Voice bonnet for Raspberry Pi Zero is basically e-waste now. Google stopped supporting it, and there are no current drivers for the closed-source audio components on the board. So it's another piece of trash, while it could have been a sound card for user applications
