Okay, this is HUGE 😱
I've just been named an #AWSHero in the #DevTools category! 🚀
Among all the recognitions I've had in my career, this one stands out in a league of its own. 😍
I am deeply, genuinely honored by this recognition. My heart is full of gratitude for all the support, encouragement, and shared passion from this amazing community. 🙇♀️

After a lot of pouring through #documentation, I think I’ve finally got a pretty firm grasp on all the network and #DNS flows for #Microsoft #Azure App Service Environments! Also, I now know more about #Redis than I ever thought I would while trying to set up Azure Cache for Redis with persistence using storage accounts behind Private Endpoints. I think I’ve got it, though! Now …to document and diagram it all for myself and other teams! 😅

Follow-up #Azure ?: are there any good docs or videos anyone can recommend on how to architect and operationalize #Terraform for use in an Azure environment? More specifically, how do people design and build the storage, connectivity, and other infra in Azure to well support and secure Terraform state files? In our #CloudJourney #automation is a huge topic, and #Ansible v Terraform is current dilemma. Both are powerful, but Terraform has state to manage — storing, securing, isolating, etc.

I never did figure out a root cause, but I was happy to notice today that I can once again SSO into the #Microsoft #Learn portal using my org’s credentials on my iPad! That had stopped working for a while, and I’d given up trying to figure it out. Glad to get back to #Azure training on it. :3

I did a thing in #Azure today! I successfully implemented Azure DNS Private Resolver and got it handling queries for on-prem zones AND got most of our on-prem “privatelink” forwarders repointed to it. Just a few more migration and some more validation and we’ll get to ditch our single, neglected Windows DNS VM that handles those queries today. 😅

Trying to communicate to other teams what we think about #Azure strategy and design while we also still figure out Azure strategy and design is hard and uncomfortable. But they’re eager to help, and we’ve clear runway from leadership to Do More Azure, so… now we gotta actually do it! 🤯🫠

Just to close the loop on this thread, I learned this morning from #Microsoft #Azure support that apparently ASEv3 instances must live in the same RG as their home VNet. So our plan to have ASE in one sub/RG live in a VNet in another sub/RG isn’t a design they’d considered for the product, per the support person. Back to the drawing board on this use case! 🤔

Maybe another #Azure #cloud expert knows the answer to this, bc Microsoft’s docs and my own prodding haven’t yielded any success. Nothing in App Service Environment’s docs (v3) indicates a requirement that the ASE has to live in the same RG as it’s target VNet (we are doing VNet integration/PE’s for everything right now). But both CLI and portal indicate a new ASE in a different RG can’t find any available VNets. What am I missing? 🤔
