The demand for software skills is only growing for automotive manufacturers, whether they are data scientists, user experience developers, or engineers who maintain cloud infrastructure and operations.

“What we’re finding is just a continuous demand for talent,” Steven Lucier, a director at Toptal says. “The level and volumes haven’t changed,” but certain skill sets are in scarce supply.

Ned Curic, who became CTO of Stellantis in 2021 after helping Amazon build an automotive business for Alexa Auto, says he’s got the engineers he needs, but adds that his hunger for more tech talent is insatiable. “It’s like ABC—always be closing—always be hiring!” he jokes.
