Corey, In your "Last Week in AWS" article "The Dumbest Dollars a Cloud Provider Can Make", you state insight that "the dumbest possible money a cloud provider can make is from charging for training." IMHO, it's true! Any barrier or friction which makes it harder to use a cloud provider is "Day 2 thinking".

On 07Feb, I got a Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification for only the cost of my time. The training was FREE. The exam voucher was FREE.
Microsoft has a brilliant program where they will provide free training for up to eight (8) 900-Level Fundamentals courses for FREE! Also, 900-Level Fundamentals certs are "one and done" for life. No renewal necessary.

Full Disclosure: I'm 5x AWS certified. I'm most familiar with AWS

Yet, Mister Softee has taken an old page from their playbook and put it into use with their cloud training: Give it away from free, and people will get hooked on it! MSFT did this with other products such as Windows, and now they're doing it again! What's old is new again!

And, because my observations of organizations are that even if they are an "AWS House", most are still using Windows, Active Directory, Office/Office365 and therefore are tangling with being multi-cloud even if they think they're just an "AWS House".

I learned about the "Microsoft Virtual Training Days" event program from a Medium article while searching for "free azure fundamentals exam voucher" Here is that link: medium.com/techwasti/az-900-ce

I'm going to be sitting the Microsoft Security Fundamentals SC-900 next week...for FREE. I may even go after some more of their free 900-Level certs for Data Analytics, AI, and Microsoft 365.

So, now I'm going back into teaching ISC2's CCSP course and into my consulting practice not "just an AWS guy", but as a "multi-cloud guy" who can speak both the AWS and Azure languages and be able to map the two ecosystems, and more importantly bridge the gap between the two to support real business needs.

Thanks for your newsletter, Corey!
It's always been valuable and always been FUN! πŸ˜Žβ€‹πŸ––β€‹

Aloha! Be Safe and Be Well!
Alan

P.S. Please boost if you think someone, especially layed-off folks might benefit from this toot. ktxbi!
