Happy birthday to my first book baby! "Clutter: An Untidy History" made its debut on 9/1/20. Three years and three editions later, it's earned out its advance and is still finding readers. I hope it won't be an only child too much longer, but I sure am grateful for it. Even though it's 2023 and I really want to be #minimalist on #clutter, I still have paper magazines + newspapers because as a kid I used to voraciously devour (and absorb information from) my parents' national geographics* and now one of my kids will literally read anything on paper lying around at breakfast, but if it was on a screen would end up watching YouTube instead...

Am I the only one how desperately hates how #Discord is mostly used?

In my experience, more and more companies/sites/services move their #support forums to discord.

With this move (not migration) users loosing a working search, threads, a good usability. If you need complicated information about smth. Discord is really the worst possible UX you can have.

I really don't understand why this is done?

The discord search is the worst I experienced on the web, the screen is so cluttered - there are no real threads - and with a lot of tech stuff beyond "put it on and off again" this is significant.

It makes everything more complicated and cluttered.

And discord is private, what if they go nuts, full right-wing conspiracy and just break it - all information will be gone.

I mean #Reddit another super useful information resource for tech stuff is experiencing this right now. Really helpful subreddits are now private bc of the strike or gone forever.

Uncool forum websites are still the best solution for this use case. Even for younger folks.
