The statue of Dolores Ibarruri (born 1895 died 1989) on Clyde Street in Glasgow. Also know as La Pasionaria, she was a hero of the Spanish Civil war. The statue commemorates the 2,100 British members of the International Bridage who joined the struggle against fascism in the late 1930s. Ibarruri is the only non-British woman to be honoured with a statue in Glasgow.

One of the embattled turrets of the Union Railway Bridge over the River Clyde in central Glasgow.
Designed by William Melville and built around 1900, it originally connected the southside of Glasgow to the now-demolished Saint Enoch Station.
I love the over-elaborate embellishments to the stonework of this bridge.

The impressive and classy A Listed Customs House on Clyde Street in Glasgow. Designed by John Taylor in the Greek Revival Style and built in 1840, it's now surrounded by modern, rather soulless and boxy developments.

The statue on the top is a stylised representation of Dolores Ibarruri, who died in 1989, who was known as 'La Pasionaria' because of her rousing speeches against fascism. The most famous of these was her "No pasaran" ("they shall not pass") speech in 1936.

La Pasionaria, Clyde Street, Glasgow. Erected in 1979, this is a memorial to the members of the International Brigade who travelled to Spain in the 1930s to fight against fascism in the Spanish Civil War.
Below the statue, it says "It is better to die on your feet than live forever on your knees", something we do with remembering even to this day.
