I saw a lot of posts these days about issues with upgrading Cisco Modeling Labs to the latest v2.6 in several online communities. I highly recommend to read the installation guide carefully and follow the instructions based on your starting point. The CML team did a great job describing everything step by step including the fact that the CML instance is in maintenance state after the upgrade.

When we took over #Chem4Word, it didn't have a comprehensive editor. This might surprise anyone used to chemical software. But the original view was that you'd download structures as much as possible.
#Chem4Word began life as a research project, testing out two propositions:
* was #CML viable for representing chemical structures?
* could a big faceless 'corporation' embrace open-source?
'Yes' to both of those. But those answers aside, it became popular among students and educators generally.

@rapodaca @macinchem @BeilsteinInst #CML suffers from the same problem: the schema is gigantic, so those few CML tools address only part of it. #Chem4Word just scratches the surface.
However, it still doesn't explain why ChemDraw felt the need to devise their own XML-based format. Why not add custom attributes and tags to CML strictly where necessary, like we did?

@emmessenn ever looked into #cml Cisco Modeling Labs? Full disclaimer: I work on this project and it's not free. Also has higher h/w requirements than packet tracer. But you get real OSs with a lot better fidelity.

ACME has turned out to be a good deal more reliable than any other products of the same name.

It's a C# component which uses Windows Presentation Foundation or #WPF. This makes it Windows Desktop only.

But the reason we wrote it is because there is a *real* drought of free, reusable .NET chemical components.

Also #CML, which ACME uses, allows much more sophisticated molecule handling. For instance, you can nest molecules in a parent-child structure.
