I really hate Kickstarter exclusives in boardgames.

Yes, yes, I understand the business of manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, etc. makes it cost prohibitive for less popular items to be reprinted.

But a company that _promises_ that some addon will never get a second printing -- no matter how popular -- as a FOMO sales tactic makes me never want to buy a base game from said company, no matter how good it may be.

Looking at you, CMON.

No son muchas las veces que podemos encarnar villanos en juego de mesa y por esta razón es que Genios Victorianos llamó mi atención en primer lugar. En este juego vamos a tomar el rol de villanos de la era victoriana y, como tales, vamos a tratar de conquistar el mundo.

Nuestro objetivo principal será obtener puntos de diferentes maneras, saqueando y sembrando el terror en las principales capitales del mundo mientras llevamos a cabo una carrera armamentista. Cada jugador comienza con 5 agentes, los planos de una maquinaria infernal y ansías de poder. 

El juego se desarrolla en una serie de turnos y en cada uno de estos el jugador va a tomar un agente al azar de su pila y agregarlo a una de las cinco ciudades en las que se divide el tablero principal. Cuando una ciudad tiene tres agentes (o dos en un juego a dos jugadores) estos se revelan y activan de uno en uno, usando su habilidad especial y obteniendo la recompensa que da la ciudad en cuestión. Dos de ellas nos dan chapas y tornillos, con los cuales iremos completando las partes de nuestra maquinaria mortal. Otras me permiten aumentar mi poder de fuego, capturar científicos para bonificar mi acciones o hacerse de importantes libros para completar la biblioteca. 
Cada agente tiene además una habilidad especial. Duplicar los recursos del saqueo, robar edificios y monumentos (si tengo suficiente poder de fuego), completar misiones especiales, sabotear a mis rivales o sacar provecho de mi maquinaria terrorífica a medida que la vaya completando. Cuando cualquier jugador logre terminarla el juego finaliza.

Genios Victorianos es un juego de oportunidades. Saber leer estás en el tablero mientras relojeamos que es lo que andan buscando los competidores es clave y sin llegar a ser un juego super malicioso si tiene interacción. Como podrán apreciar la producción, arte y miniaturas le multiplican exponencialmente el carisma que provee la temática. Si bien las diferentes máquinas dan para probar distintos tipos de estrategias no me atrevo a aventurar la rejugabilidad de este título. Lo que sí puedo asegurar es que para grupos de juegos donde hay alta rotatividad nos dará partidas intensas.

any #Sherlock peeps watching Magpie Murders? So many signs Pünd is queer (the author character is canonically bi, the assistant is the gay partner in the irl narrative, his labor camp history, etc) but it doesn't seem (so far) to be canon.

Totally different sitch than Sherlock, but it still has me gnashing my teeth just a hair.
