Is anybody that’s attending #CNU31 or the #StrongTowns national gathering going to the #CNU Neighborhood Dinners? I’m going to go to one of them, just trying to figure out which one I want to attend.

@polarweasel I have a hard time comparing them. Duany isn’t a commentator like Kunstler, so he doesn’t put out as much publicly. Also, I know Duany but not Kunstler, which colors my opinion.

Every interaction I’ve ever had with Duany has been negative. From the first time I saw him in person, when he was screaming at someone in the middle of a public square at CNU26, to him storming out of the room & calling me a moron for saying we need new voices at #CNU last year. I’m just not a fan of his.

This chart from the latest IPCC report doesn't look favorably upon planned relocation and resettlement as a way to address climate change.

There is a push through the #PlaceInitiative, largely coming out of folks who happen to be #CNU members, to plan for climate refugees in cities with relatively low change of climate impacts. Andrés Duany was advocating for this instead of trying to reduce climate change last year at CNU. I thought it was monstrous of him & apparently the IPCC would too.

Sadly, as reported by @juliengossa, our field (#CNU section 67 in #ecology & #evolution) is the one that has seen the steepest decline in new assistant-professor #positions over the last 10 years in France.

Strange when #OneHealth is constantly invoked these days.

I registered for the #StrongTowns National Gathering and #CNU31 today. I'm looking forward to seeing all of my #CNU friends in Charlotte at the end of may. It is by far the best collection of urbanists every year. (Ok, I've never been to Seaside, so my points of comparison aren't exhaustive, but it's a great gathering nonetheless.) Conditions d'emploi : la section 19 du #CNU (sociologie, démographie) a adopté le 6 février une motion sur "la dégradation des conditions d'emploi dans l'enseignement supérieur", rappelant que les vacataires sont aujourd'hui payés sous le #SMIC.
