These two Parrots I spotted supporting a coat of arms on a building on Queen Street in Glasgow confused me somewhat, until I realised it's the crest of the Buchanan Society and they're meant to be Peregrine Falcons!

Ornate lamp featuring the Glasgow Coat of Arms over the entrance to a tenement close in the Strathbungo area of the city.

Such lamps usually signify that an occupant of a building is (if there's two) or once was (if there's just one) the Lord Provost of Glasgow.

My grandmother was born in Vatra Dornei (then Dorna Vatra), now a skiing resort in the mountains then quite a glamorous spa town, and I just now realised that their city has a couple of holding the local fountain. I mean, how cute is that??

Given my other hobbies I've posted about ( ), I'm sure it's no surprise that I looked into awhile ago.

Turns out that with a few rare exceptions, most people do not have valid claim to any historical Heraldry (like the "family " booths at Ren Faires) - But, there's no reason that anyone can't create their OWN heraldry! Which I thought was a lot more fun anyway. After a long, slow decision process - this is my official ! (cont)
