@sam Two years ago I wrote a piece on the gap at Fair Oaks. The placement of that gap in one of the poorest and most heavily immigrant-populated Cobb communities gives an insight into decisions around how construction is phased. I don't believe the Cobb DOT, Marietta and the other entities consciously made the decision to short-change Fair Oaks, but I think there was a move to finish the trail in the neighborhoods likeliest to complain if they didn't.

I'll agree with Rep. Terry Cummings, though. Locating it near Six Flags would provide a good hook for desperately needed Veterans Memorial Highway bus routes. The Cobb DOT seems to prefer Austell Road at the East West Connector.
