Now in my 70th year I have been fitted with hearing aids courtesy our wonderful #NHS. I was aware of my high frequency hearing loss and #tinnitus since retiring from the RAF. It was caused by many years working in a jet noise environment despite wearing appropriate ear protection. Sometimes known as #CocktailPartySyndrome because losing the high frequency hearing range makes it difficult to follow a conversation in noisy background environments. With increasing age the problem gradually worsened without me really noticing.
It's amazing how the restoration of my high frequency hearing has changed my hearing world. All sounds are brighter and I no longer struggle in noisy environments. That's after only 24 hours of them being fitted.
My brain is now engaged in adapting to my 'new' hearing soundscape. The #audiologist explained it will take a little while to adapt. So far I am impressed. The #HearingAids are #Bluetooth enabled and come with a cool app. Very impressed!
