Highly variable rainfall in #RochMN yesterday #rain #thunderstorms #cocorahs #minnesota

The NWS released their June data and the #RochMN Airport had their 6th driest June. But #CoCoRaHS gages in town were much drier. Most have only had 0.5-0.65" since mid May! Extremely dry out there. Realistically, I would say it's quite possibly been the driest June in the last 130 years for Rochester. #drought
4/11 @ 8:00am - Taking our rainfall observation at the office this morning and the numbers are in! We've received 2.45 inches of rainfall in the last 24 hours! And there is certainly more rainfall for our area on the way this week. How much rain did you receive? #CocoRaHS https://t.co/mfJGs32Jqv
Here’s the view from the rain gauge, which I check every morning for a citizen-science project. We planted this dogwood about fifteen years ago. It’s native here, so it supports birds, pollinators, and other wildlife as well as being gorgeous. #goodMorning #gardening #CoCoRaHS #nativePlants

Just reported my first precipitation record (none!) to #CoCoRaHS, the #CommunityScience rain, hail, and snow project. My goals are to help meteorologists track and predict the weather, help researchers to get a grip on the climate crisis, and let me know when to water my garden. Folks in NC can get a free gauge right now through the Museum of Natural Sciences and the project offers help if $ is an issue. My #CoCoRaHS station was sixth-wettest in the NWS Charleston, SC CWFA with 61.37” of rain in 2022. This includes their Georgia counties! Was a soggy year overall.
Looks like a dry morning across most of #NewMexico. A few #CoCoRaHS observers reported traces in their rain gauges. #NMWX #mastodonwx

14 mm of snow (when melted) from the Colorado Low overnight. https://cocorahs.org/ViewData/ViewDailyPrecipReport.aspx?DailyPrecipReportID=1767dc22-cfd7-4c97-8824-90725b3ef9ac #cocorahs
@w8ufo oh cool! yeah, #cocorahs prefers that folks use one from their recommended list of rain gauges, most of which are manual. I think it's to help keep things consistent?
I spent $35 + tax/shipping on mine and about $10 for a 4" by 4" to mount it lol
