It's my single biggest annoyance with the Safari browser on #macOS.

Lots of random high-freq luminance and colour variation causes overall image quality to drop if bit rates are held constant. Resulting in image artifacts which affect the legibility of text and details. Even some patterns and colour pallets incorporated into sets seem to reduce picture quality when on-screen

I have a hard drive full of movies, most of which play just fine when the drive is plugged directly into my tv. One set of films, that I've downloaded from one particular vendor, won't play nice, unless I plug the drive into my computer and then plug the computer into the tv. I'm guessing there's a #codec incompatibility of some sort. Is this something I can fix? Can I convert the film file into another format that will play nice? Thanks for your help!
