Question to folks familiar with video/audio #codecs and #browser tech:

Why do #YouTube videos in #Safari still sound distorted when playing them at 1.25x or 1.5x compared to #Chrome or #Chromium-based browsers?

It's my single biggest annoyance with the Safari browser on #macOS.

It was easier than I thought to make that first #C4FM #digital voice contact. Mostly it required finding a #repeater frequency and stepping outside so the HT could actually hit it. Apparently the local repeater is linked up with a bunch of other flavors of digital thanks to the group that operates that repeater and a handful of others, so users of other #codecs could hear us. Now I'm thinking I need a whole VHF/UHF base station at home, not just a dumb-as-dirt 2m-analog-only #transceiver.

Habe gerade gelesen, dass wohl bald die Unterstützung/Nutzung?/Auslieferung? der H264/H265 Codecs in Linux Distros über Mesa unterbunden wird? Laut Artikeln, die ich gelesen habe, sind das wohl Fedora, Open Suse und Manjaro. Andere werden wohl nachziehen. Da ich ohne diese Codecs keine Video Dateien mehr abspielen kann, ist mein bisher super funktionierender, 10 Jahre alter Laptop dann wohl Schrott? Oder wie muss ich das verstehen?
Kenne mich da leider nicht sehr viel mit aus, weiss nur, dass ich diese Codecs schon bei Open Suse immer aus den Community Repos installieren musste, weil proprietäre Software. Aber ohne das läuft halt nix mehr am Laptop.
Kann mir da jemand von euch mal sagen, ob ich das dann richtig sehe, dass alte Laptops die auf Mesa angewiesen sind (meiner, weil der Treiber-Support von Intel nicht mehr stattfindet, da zu alt), dann nicht mehr für Videokrams zu gebrauchen sind?
