Especially for the queer part of my bubble: #CoryDoctorow wrote a great article about how #Netflix cutting off password sharing is an example of tech defining what society has to look like by force of algorithm, intentionally or unintentionally.

It reminds me of Lessig's "#CodeIsLaw" which we discussed at university. The (analog) example that always stuck with me was how a city architect didn't want any Black people at a beach - so after figuring out they mostly came by bus, he had a bridge built across the road leading there, making it impassable for buses and the beach inaccessible for Black people without ever outright having to state "no Black people!".
