@ILikeYarnALot Not sure if that's what you're looking for at all but #Codidact hosts a Q&A community on #writing. It's small and slow but trying to grow, and welcomes questions on all kinds of writing. https://writing.codidact.com/
And there's even an open meta-discussion about whether they should add #ActivityPub support! Love it!

Just found out about #codidact - a "community-run, open-source Q&A platform", aka #StackExchange's replacement! What an exciting time to be alive!

Given the recent #StackOverflow controversies, figured I would share this site , #Codidact: https://software.codidact.com/
I just ventured onto #Codidact for the first time in ages, seeking the term for a word that is an instance of the concept it names (e.g., "word," "noun", "eggcorn", "mondegreen"). https://languages.codidact.com/posts/288754
@pompelon For bigger-than-little details in #worldbuilding, may I also suggest giving Scientific Speculation Codidact a try? It's small and still not very active, but #Codidact @codidact is actively looking to grow. https://scientific-speculation.codidact.com/ Also check out the other communities which are hidden under the down arrow dropdown menu in the upper right; there's a #writing community, for one, and even a #TTRPG one.

We have revamped our process for proposing new #communities for our #Codidact network. Now instead of just telling us about it and waiting for people to express interest, you can get started by asking and answering questions, refining the proposal and building community in the process. If you have a group with a shared interest looking to do Q&A and other knowledge-sharing in an open, flexible environment, check it out.
@gerbrand @Are0h Functionality to import content from Stack Exchange sites to #Codidact does exist, and some of the https://www.codidact.com/ communities have some imported content, but it turned out that wholesale imports of existing content was one of those things that sounded useful but wasn't a good idea in practice. Which of course makes the sites look rather empty, but I know that there are people there who are just waiting for questions to answer.
Anyone want to help build up a community for a #GIS question-and-answer page on #Codidact (a #StackExchange alternative)?

(The community is just an idea at this stage, and really needs people.)
@darren @carnage4life let me help you with that sir...
There’s an open source non profit alternative to StackExchange called Codidact, who knew?! 🤷♂️

@Evoterra
Related, while telling Reddit what we think of being screwed over does anyone fancy joining the FOSS non profit alternative to StackExchange called Codidact? 🥳

Ah, I added #codidact to a recent #FediverseIdea for a federated #StackExchange..

We clarified our policy for posts using #ChatGPT etc on the #Codidact network. Claiming something you didn't create as yours is plagiarism and forbidden; copied content must be attributed. Communities are empowered to moderate low-quality content like posts that consist entirely of quotes from unreliable sources - whether blogs, AI output, or something you heard someone say at a conference.
Our communities have autonomy here and we'll support them however we can. https://meta.codidact.com/posts/288194
Plug: Judaism Codidact has a bunch of questions that I think are interesting and that lack answers. We're a small community trying to grow. If Q&A for the sake of heaven (we don't do p'sak), on a site founded to serve the community first and foremost, sounds interesting, I hope you'll give us a look! #Codidact is non-profit, open-source, and volunteer-run; this is one of the communities we host and it's very close to my heart.
#Jewish Mastodon: I found "Preparing for preparing for Pesach" an interesting discussion of Purim as preparation for Pesach: https://judaism.codidact.com/posts/287859
We don't get a lot of divrei torah on the Judaism #Codidact community. I find the ones we get to be thought-provoking. (Well, I won't comment on the ones I post; I am but a grasshopper alongside giants. But those other ones...)
Without the support of many donors, our #Codidact communities and platform would not succeed. Today, we want to thank and acknowledge those who donate to us, for making all we do possible.
Our latest newsletter, covering:
- our server migration, and learning about a caching problem the hard way
- a university's adoption of our platform and how they're helping to improve it
- a bunch of new features
- an update on our technical roadmap
We're grateful to everyone who helps make #Codidact and its communities better!
@22 Ideally, you wouldn't clone SO from scratch, but instead start with #Codidact, a growing open-source SO-like system. (Which was created when SO started getting notably toxic.)
I've been thinking in recent days that it might be neat if Codidact was #Fediverse-integrated, but I don't yet know precisely what that *means* yet. Interesting to ponder.
