This one she wrote in both French and English, I assume just because she enjoys the challenge of bending two languages to her will simultaneously, and then she also danced the choreography like some sort of mystical nymph:

Also I will talk *at length* about how "Impossible à aimer" is a concept album, the progression through song of an entire relationship with Shakespearean levels of drama, with astonishing emotional clarity and musical variety, and my unconfirmed theory is that the progression actually ends with an homage to Greek chorus. Because the album is a play in flashback, but the story is eternal.
I also think she wrote this genius in righteous fury at an ex who treated her poorly and then had the audacity to question what art she would make of him. She repurposed male hubris into an album-length feminist smackdown.
Worth learning some French for.

During my walk, my mind gave me this banger of a song:

I had to put my #CoeurDePirate collection away for a few months because I couldn't handle how emotionally resonant her songs are, and how catchy. I'm thrilled to be able to listen again, because she's an actual genius. Like, in my opinion, up there with #TrentReznor.
I'm pretty sure the last two minutes of that video is *one shot.* Where they are acting out Bonnie and Clyde / Romeo and Juliet, while also lip-synching their banger of a song (while one of them is carrying another entire adult human being). Art. Deserves a wider audience.

Note that the description for the Coeur de Pirate video says the track is an Amazon exclusive, but that's no longer true. The exclusivity was only for a year, and now you can buy the track from her Bandcamp site.
Quebec singer/songwriter Coeur de Pirate usually writes songs about difficult relationships. So when she released a Christmas track last year, of course it was a vengeful breakup song. I love the animation in this video, and her clever French lyrics.
She also did a 3-song EP called "Chansons Tristes pour Noël" featuring one English song: "Last Christmas"... which is also a breakup song!

I've been to many hundreds of gigs, but tonight's Coeur De Pirate one is the best I've ever been to. That was special!
