Woo! Watching my first #kdrama - #CoffeePrince and it's kinda groundbreaking :

1. Shows a lead actor accepting that he has fallen for someone for who they are as a person, regardless of their gender.
2. Shows a longtime couple dealing with being attracted to other people and dealing with it ( in both healthy and unhealthy ways)

haven't even seen something like this on Indian TV even in 2023 - and this show came out in 2007!

The same year I discovered the #series #coffeeprince (2007) through my semester abroad in #southkorea which totally blew my mind.

The main character #goeunchan is not actually characterized as #trans, more as a #tomboy or a person needing to pretend to be a boy - nonetheless this narrative spoke to me so deeply, especially the allusions towards them being #gay.

I am so #grateful for this #tvshow.✨

@jillithd I knew #CoffeePrince was a genderbendy series and it was kind of on my to-watch list but I did not know Gong Yoo was in it.

This week I watched the classic #kdrama #CoffeePrince for the first time on recommendation of someone on here. They sold it to me with "Gong Yoo bisexual awakening". 😁

I did not expect my own reaction to it. The premise is that a very boyish tomboy is mistaken for a man and tries to maintain the mistake in order to keep her job.

If this were an American love story with a tomboy, she would have a makeover and then the male lead would fall in love with her made-over feminine self.

"First Shop Of Coffee Prince" or just "Coffee Prince".
An all-time Classic Korean Drama from 2007.
15 yrs later now, but still fresh.

Perhaps a whole new generation is growing up that did not watch it !
Humor, romance, perfect cast and a nice build-up of the story.
Not often mentioned:The beautiful songs that go with it, classics from West and East at the right moments, as essential parts for the atmosphere.

Mine are: Umbrellas in the rain, Bored Immortals (#Goblin, #TaleoftheNinetailed), Hypercompetent Male Lead (#LegendoftheBlueSea, #HometownChaChaCha), Bold and Powerful Female Lead (#LegendoftheBlueSea, #AlchemyofSouls), Hurt/Comfort (#AlchemyofSouls is very good at that), ‘I will love you no matter which body you’re in’ (#CoffeePrince, #AlchemyofSouls)

I’ve spent the past couple of weeks watching #CoffeePrince. I’m on Episode 14 right now.

I’ll have to get through the final episodes before I can confidently give it a 4.5 out of 5 — but I’ve really enjoyed this #KDrama!
