Mastodon is a great social media alternative and I do really like it here, there are so many cool folks!! But my true love...the website my brain now lives at...has to be Cohost.

There aren't enough characters to describe why I like it so much. Let's just say it feels like "old internet" where people are people, people have fun posting, and the possibilities of the internet are wild and free and unconstrained.

Regarding the #Cohost financial situation, people laughing at the cost are missing the entire point, the cost makes sense given that business size and fair-pay policy. While ensuring everyone gets paid a fair share, needing 46K a month to host 12K MAU is entirely reasonable.

What isn't reasonable, is that they didn't figure out the revenue streams before the project went mainstream. It's the same old story for every social media site at this point - expand first, monetise later.

As we approach the summer, my interest for my biggest hobby tends to decrease. I blame lack of purpose in the flights and lack of motivation to start projects that I´ll have to abandon during my summer absence.

Yet I can never stay away from it for too long.

If anyone is on #Cohost, you may want to back up your stuff that you want to save somewhere else ASAP. I don't think that service is going to be around in a month or two after reading their post on their finances.

I just replaced my #Cohost-link in my Mastodon-profile with my #Bluesky-handle (@chaotichuman.bsky.social) because I think I will likely be much more active on Bluesky than on Cohost.

I'm sorry, I wanted to like #cohost but it's just not sticking with me.

• ridiculous narrow single-column format
• a dedicated, non-dismissable, even-narrower column for posts from the devs, for some reason
• repetitive re-posts every time someone replies to anything
• I can't set my profile picture for whatever reason

I feel like sooner or later the tab is going to get buried or lost and I'll just never remember to open it again.

It's cleaner, prettier, more flexible and versatile, and the way it integrates things like hashtags won't infringe on your character count.

Whatever comes out of this nonsensical #HouseSpeaker dance I can only hope we get a #VelshiRhule reunion series from #MSNBC. Preferably at night and preferably a 2 hour block.

They have an intrinsic synergy that transcends the normal #cohost relationship. They both bring out the best of each other and I sorely miss their midday show.

#MSNBC should give them a shot at a nightly show.
